ALSO AVAILABLE ON: Emperor's Closet: Selected Works of Konishi Yasuharu 1987-1994
|
NOTES: In the Emperor's Closetliner notes, Konishi writes: "I wonder whether or not there are people who still remember the artist Yui Haga. At one time, she was promoted as a mysterious, faceless idol whom Mr. Hikaru Ijuuin placed in a Nippon Broadcasting radio program. This song, "Hoshizora no PASSPORT," is a rewrite of the idol-pop parody, "Sanso [Oxygen] de lululu," which was included on the album, "Naiyou no nai ongakukai" [No Content Concert], by the group, Namafuku. The singer is Ms. Yukari Shizaki, who played Haniwa-chan [children's show character]. She is also the wife of Michael Kawai, the director who is in charge of this album. Also included is its B-side, "...suki desu" [I Like You]. This is a song that I reworked from demo tapes I made before forming Pizzicato Five. In this same fashion, I made "Na mida no PIZZICATO" [Pizzicato Tears] for Shinobu Nakayama (see below), but unfortunately I couldn't include it here.
Words are by Tamio Okuda (Unicorn, Puffy).

NOTES: The group that featured Tamio Okuda before he went solo and produced Puffy. Okuda turns up on Soft Landing on the Moonon the track "This Can't Be Love."
In the Emperor's Closetnotes, Konishi writes: " I worried my head over their offer wanting me to combine songs by each of their two members, Tamio Okuda and Yoshiharu Abe, and create one song out of them. Ultimately, I used Abe's song for the hook part and Okuda's song for the verse part, which recalls the sound of TM Network, and connected them by the orchestral sound, "jan." For merely this "jan," I was given a writing credit and received some royalties. This is a perk."
(TM Network featured Tetsuya Komuro, before he went on to fame as the producer of trf, globe, and Namie Amuro.)
