Cows on parade
This weekend we went for a walk in Marunouchi/Ginza for some cow watching. The area currently features over 60 life-size cows designed by different artists, for the Cow Parade Tokyo event.
Most cows are being auctioned starting at ¥50000, so if you have too much space and are thinking of getting a new pet, here is your chance to get an arty one.
Here are some favorites in the order I found them.
#64 HASEGAWA Jinta "rich milk" / #46 UENO Mariko "cow gal" / #44 ymk Nobility "Bull's eye" / #22 KAMI "Inside Out"
#33 FURUKAWA Orie "(u)sushi" / #21 KATŌ Miki "?" / #17 mayu "shushoku wa mayugo desu no." / #12 micro "gyūnyū Pack"
#15 yellow dog "daruma ushi" / #37 REI "wagyū" / #13 G16s "MOW nomenai"

I guess they are trying to do it in all the big cities. All the same statue with different artists customizing it. I see there is now a grazing and a sitting version. Then Disney took that idea and got celebrities to paint on identical Mickey Mouse sculptures that were put out in public a while then sold to charity.
It is good that some of them refer to Japanese culture. Since the Cow Parade thing is a known American import and merchandising thing I can't help but wonder how this connects or doesn't connect with the whole American beef mad cow thing.
I don't know farm animals that well but since the statues have udders maybe they shouldn't also have horns. right?

I don't think Cow Parade Tokyo is some kind of promotion though.
