Kure 5-56 for synth sliders
This weekend I was talking about analog synthesizers with a friend, and how sliders get dirty and noisy after a while, and she recommended me to use Kure 5-56, a general purpose spray lubricant available at any hardware store here.
So today I opened one of my synths, my precious Concertmate-600 (responsible for all Glad En Mono beats), and cleaned and sprayed all malfunctioning sliders, and now it all works much better!
Just passing the word. :)

Well there are no hard and fast rules since the sliders are made different ways. Generally everyone's best advice is if you can get into a slider or pot without breaking it, just wiping it with a Q-Tip should be pretty good. The thing with the sprays is you don't really know if that stuff will become gunk and make things worse in a few years. On the other hand that person might very well have been using that stuff for years - a good tidbit to know. One thing for sure, if there is some dirt in there, it will still be in there mixed with whatever you spray in there. The other wild card is the materials inside sliders can be made of several materials so something that might actually clean one material may disolve another.

Thanks for the good tips Nick!
That's right that removing the trash first is a must. I took care of removing all what I could see, but Q-tip'ing would have been even better. I'll keep all of that in mind!

This is what I've been cleaning. Not finished yet but it's getting there. Definitely works. Full of un-miniature Soviet and Chinese parts. Looks like it has carbon coated pots so I don't want to be dissolving the coating inside.
