... and Glad saw the light in 1996. The project began in Joliette, Québec, in Raf's basement, back when Raf and Pat had a grunge band called Rainbow Connection. During long moments of lack of inspiration for Rainbow Connection, they would grab old keyboards and jam around to think about other stuff. Very soon, Glad's first songs were known of all of Pat and Raf's friends. It is only a while later that our two gladifiers (a.k.a. gladiators) began to direct their efforts in this direction since they had a lot of fun making Glad. Glad's experience and repertory kept growing constantly.
At the beginning of 1998, Rainbow Connection disbanded because of the members' differing priorities. However, Pat and Raf decided to put even more effort in Glad! Several months of composition and practice had for result Glad's first official demo's release, completely independently produced by Glad during summer 1998. The demo was available to fans on CD and tape. Meanwhile, Pat moved to Montréal for a job, and he had the chance to meet key people from the Montréal indie music scene who were immediately interested by the new ideas Glad was bringing. Glad then had the chance to do its very first show, on July 23, 1998 at the Jailhouse Rock Café, which didn't leave anyone indifferent! The proof: one week later, Glad already had one more scheduled show! Glad then played the vegetarian café Les Vivres on August 21, 1998.
Glad changed its name to Glad En Mono because they found out that there was already a Christian a capella band called GLAD... In 2000, a 5-song EP called "Gladification" was released and sold at 3rd live show, on mp3.com and at CD Esoterik (Montréal).
