Flin Flon "Dixie" + "Dixie (Version)" (12") + Bossanova "Hey, Sugar"

I'm terribly excited about Flin Flon's upcoming 3rd album, titled "Dixie". It's coming out on Teenbeat in two editions, the regular CD and a "version" LP. The version LP for previous album "Boo Boo" surely kicked ass, and this will too!
Flin Flon is the minimalistic danceable rock band of Mark Robinson (Unrest, Air Miami, etc.), Nattles (Cold Cold Hearts) and Matt Datesman (True Love Always).

While you're at it, why not do like me and buy Canadian band Bossanova's debut album "Hey, Sugar". It's out on the same day and there's currently a money-saving good deal when you buy both Flin Flon and Bossanova CDs.

I hope Bossanova didn't pay too much for that cover design.

Probably not. It's not much simpler than Le Tigre "This Island Remixes".

it's done "in house" anyway by mark robinson. plus, the whole layout of it looks pretty neat when opened up. "hey, sugar" is a really great album. looking forward to the new flin flon, too!

Looking forward to all of that!
Not for much longer hopefully, though I was told that it may all ship around mid-March.

I don't know much more about them, except that they're a Canadian band. They had released at least an EP in the late 90's, which I had mail ordered directly from them after hearing one of their songs on a Teenbeat compilation (they're on Teenbeat samplers 1999, 2003 and 2004).

I still haven't got my stuff from Teenbeat and I can't wait...!

what do you want to know?

hi Patrick,

i got the new Bossanova album and played it on my radio show a few time already... i too had gotten hooked on them from that song they had on that TeenBeat compilation. i really can't wait to hear the FlinFlon album too! i'm a HUGE Mark Robinson fan. seems he's obsessed with east coast geography this time... with the province of Prince Edward Island(a few songs mention areas i've already visited. first he did the west coast provinces and now he's giving a shout out to the east coast of Canada. i wish i could have a conversation with him sometime about his little obsession with Canada... i heard he had a link with Canada through his family but i'd love to hear more about that. he makes damn great music so in the end that's all that counts.

Glad you like Bossanova and Mark too!
The latest Flin Flon is a must check! Also check out the new hollAnd album that's just out, I'm really hooked. I gave Jean a listen and he loved it too. :)

Btw, Mark is very easily reached through the TeenBeat mailing list. You could throw a Canada question in the open and see what happens!
